Amitabh Bhattacharya

Amitabh Bhattacharya is an Indian writer and playback vocalist who works in Bollywood films. He is of Bengali descent and hails from Uttar Pradesh.

With the film Dev.D, he rocketed to fame, with the song “Emotional Atyachar” becoming an instant smash. He sang this song as “Band Master Rangeela And Rasila.” He also collaborated with Amit Trivedi on this song.

Since then, he has been writing lyrics for a range of Bollywood films and has even sung a handful of them. Since their debut film, Aamir, Bhattacharya has had a tight relationship with Amit Trivedi. For the most part, he has written or composed the lyrics for the latter’s film albums. His lyrics have been praised as “frill-free” and “smartly crafted,” among other things.

He is a National Award-winning lyricist, and his song “Agar Zindagi” from the film I Am got him the National Award. In 2012, he received his first Filmfare Award for the song “Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin.”
