Sharad Purnima 2020 Date: The full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month is called Sharad Purnima or Ashwin Purnima. This full moon is also called Kojagari Purnima. Mata Lakshmi is also worshiped along with Shri Hari Vishnu on this full moon. This time this full moon is on 30 October 2020. It is also said that on this day Mata Lakshmi roams the earth at night. Hence Iso Kojagari Purnima is named.

This day especially rice pudding is made and kept under the moon. It is said that on this day, Amritvarsha occurs. Therefore, eating kheer under the moon ends many kinds of problems. In the Bengali community, a special statue of Goddess Lakshmi is installed and worshiped at the place of Durga Puja on the day of Kojagari Lakkhi Puja.

It is also believed on Sharad Purnima that Goddess Lakshmi comes to visit the earth on this night and goes to every house to see who is awake on this night and chants the Lord’s hymn. Hence it is also known as Kojagari Purnima. It is believed that on the night of Sharad Purnima, every person who falls asleep does not enter Mata Lakshmi at their home. In such a situation, some measures are taken to please Goddess Lakshmi and fulfill all wishes.

One should not sleep without naming Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi after waking up late on the night of Sharad Purnima. Because of awakening in the night, it is also called Kojagari Purnima i.e. waking night. On the night of Sharad Purnima, Kheer like nectar, which is kept under the open sky, must be accepted in the Prasad. To welcome Goddess Lakshmi on the night of Sharad Purnima, take a bath in the morning of the full moon and offer bhog, lamp and water to Tulsi. Mother Lakshmi is pleased by doing this. Apart from this, Mata Lakshmi mantra should also be chanted on Sharad Purnima.
