In North India, on the night of Sharad Purnima, Kheer is prepared overnight in the moonlight and distributed in the morning as Prasad. By placing kheer in the open sky, the moon takes its share and gets a fraction of nectar in it. It is said that it helps in achieving a healthy body and increases the ability to destroy pitta and phlegm. On the night of Sharad Purnima, one should recite Srisukta, Kanakadhara Stotra, or chant Vishnu Sahastranam. Also, Goddess Lakshmi should be worshiped with white lotus, silver, jasmine perfume, honey. After worshiping, fish should be fed by mixing shrimp and green seeds on thin paper and mixed with flour, in this way it paves the way for economic benefits and liberates from all hazards.
